Forest officials reportedly rounded up six woodcutters hailing from Tamil Nadu and recovered 60 red sanders logs weighing 1,850 kg in their possession as part of a regular combing operation in Roallamadugu forest in Rajampet mandal of Kadapa district.
Based on a tip-off that woodcutters had sneaked into the forest, the officials took up the operation that began on Saturday and ended on Monday, in which six intruders were arrested.
In course of the intense search, 45 persons carrying logs were reportedly sighted in Veeraiahsahebpenta in Roallamadugu beat. The arrested were found to belong to Sankarapuram taluk in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu. They were hired by a local contractor.
