264 cadets pass out from Indian Naval Academy

As many as 264 trainees comprising midshipmen and cadets of the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and 10 international cadets passed out on Saturday marking the culmination of their training at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) here.

The passing-out parade (POP) was reviewed by Chief of the Army Staff General Bipin Rawat. He also awarded medals to meritorious midshipmen and cadets after the ceremonial review.

INA Commandant Vice Admiral R.B. Pandit and Director of the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, Anurag Kumar, were among those present to witness the POP.

“All of you, men and women on parade, are fortunate to be stepping into the Navy and the Coast Guard at this stage of our nation’s evolution,” he said in his address to the cadets.

The passing-out midshipmen and cadets belong to four different courses of Spring Term 2019, namely 96th INA Course (B.Tech), 96th INA Course (M.Sc), 27th Naval Orientation Course (NOC Extended), 28th NOC (Regular) and 28th NOC (Coast Guard).

The President’s Gold Medal for the INA B.Tech. course was awarded to Midshipman Killamsetty Vikash. The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Gold Medal for the NOC (Extended) was awarded to cadet Siddharth Sankar.

The Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal for the NOC (Regular) course and the Zamorin Trophy for the best women cadet (instituted for the first time) was awarded to Cadet Kreeshma R.

The other medal winners are: Samartha Ravindra Limaye (CNS Silver medal for INAC B.Tech.), Gourav Sangwan (FOC-in-C South Silver Medal for NOC-Extended), Kripa Sindhu Patel (FOC-in-C South Bronze Medal for INAC B.Tech. Course, Yugal Gautam (INA Commandant Silver Medal for NOC-Regular) and Shreyash S. Hanchinal (INA Commandant Bronze Medal for NOC-Extended).
