The Information and Broadcasting Ministry is likely to reply to the Election Commission on Friday on complaints received against NaMo TV, a top official of the Election Commission said.
“We did receive a complaint. We have sought a report from the I&B ministry. They have asked us for sometime to give us a report. They will submit their report tomorrow (Friday),” Ashok Lavasa, Election Commissioner said here on Thursday after a review of the poll preparedness in Tamil Nadu.
Mr. Lavasa was responding to a question on the telecast of NaMo TV, and over the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress’ objections over it alleging violation of the model code of conduct.
“We cannot tell you what action the Election Commission will take because that will depend on the facts and the position. So let us await that report. Only then will we take any action,” Mr. Lavasa said to a question on what options the Commission had over the issue.
On the issue of the Prime Minister’s address to the nation over the ASAT test, Mr. Lavasa said representatives from various divisions of the Election Commission thoroughly examined the announcement “and in their report, they have concluded that there was no misuse of official media, because that is the prohibition in the model code of conduct”.
