The State government on Tuesday informed the Madras High Court that it had already passed orders transferring two main cases booked in connection with Pollachi sexual abuse issue to the Central Bureau of Investigation and that a decision has been taken to transfer other relates cases too to the central agency.
Justice N. Anand Venkatesh recorded the submission made by State Public Prosecutor (SPP) A. Natarjan and disposed of an advance bail petition filed by journalist Nakheeran Gopal with liberty to the petitioner to approach the court once again if there was any apprehension of his arrest after all cases get transferred to CBI.
The present petition had been filed apprehending the arrest by Central Crime Branch (CCB) police for having uploaded videos regarding the sexual abuse on his magazine’s YouTube channel.
During the course of hearing, the judge wondered why parallel investigations were being conducted by multiple agencies.
Disapproving the act of the magazine of having uploaded such videos on social media, the judge felt that it would not be advisable for multiple agencies such as the CBI, the CCB and the CB-CID to conduct independent investigations.
After reading the mind of the judge, the SPP took instructions from the State government and reverted back to the court to state that the government was prepared to transfer all connected cases to the CBI.
