The Christchurch mosques terror attack claimed a third life from the State as it came to light that a student from Hyderabad succumbed to his injuries.
A tweet from the official handle of the India High Commission in New Zealand named Ozair Kadir in a list of five people who passed away. He was in the Al Noor Mosque when a gunman open fire on worshippers.
The 25-year-old victim moved to New Zealand around a year ago to pursue an education in aviation. According to sources close to the family, he was born in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. His family lives in Noor Khan Bazaar.
His father, Kadir Habib, is an NRI living in Saudi Arabia. The victim’s sibling Omair Kadir is also a pilot. The family owns a textile shop in Dabeerpura.
“The family was told yesterday that Ozair was injured. His brother Omair is on the way to New Zealand and will reach in the evening today. Ozair’s father is scheduled to reach Hyderabad in a day or two,” the source said.
Ozair Kadir is the third victim of the terror attack from the State. As was reported earlier, Farhaj Ahsan, a 31-year-old engineer, and Mohammed Imran Khan, a 35-year-old restaurateur had succumbed to their injuries.
The Indian High Commission in New Zealand has set up a support group in Christchurch to assist the families of victims. It also started what is said is a dedicated page to ‘expedite visa for family members of Christchurch victims.’
