As the BJP on Tuesday announced its candidates for Lok Sabha election in Punjab, sitting Hoshiarpur MP and Union Minister Vijay Sampla, who has been denied ticket this time, expressed his displeasure by stating that his party has committed “cow slaughter”.
Venting his ire on Twitter, soon after the party announced Som Parkash as its candidate from Hoshiarpur, Mr. Sampla wrote: “It’s very sad, the BJP has committed cow slaughter.”
Mr. Sampla posted his “credentials” on Twitter and asked the BJP to explain the grounds on which it denied him a renomination.
“There’s no corruption charge on me. No one can point a finger on my conduct. I brought airport to my constituency, improved rail and road network. If all this is my fault, then I will tell my coming generations that they should not repeat such mistakes,” he tweeted.
The BJP has announced actor Sunny Deol as its candidate from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat and renominated sitting MP Kirron Kher from Chandigarh.
Mr. Deol will take on Punjab Congress chief and sitting Congress MP Sunil Jakhar from Gurdaspur, while Ms. Kher will face Pawan Bansal of the Congress in Chandigarh.
