Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday promised the Deputy CM’s post to a leader from the minorities.
Addressing a meeting at Ponnur, Mr. Naidu said he would give a monthly honorarium of ₹10,000 to Imams and would construct a Haj House in Vijayawada.
Directing his ire at the BJP-led NDA government, he said, “There is a fear that the BJP government, if voted back to power, will take away the voting rights of the Muslims.”
Mr. Naidu faulted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah for their attitude towards the minorities.
Slamming Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao, he said, “If KCR demands share in water from the Polavaram project, I have every right to demand share from the Kaleswaram project.”
“I am here to protect the rights of five-crore people of the State. If you give a chance to the YSR Congress Party, development will come to a stop and construction of Amaravati will be a question mark,” Mr Naidu said.
“The YSRCP has filed cases against Polavaram and Amaravati, and is not interested in the development of the State,” the Chief Minister added.
Guntur Parliamentarian Galla Jayadev and Ponnur legislator Dhullipalla Narendra were present at the meeting.
