The DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance on Friday unveiled the list of Lok Sabha constituencies from where the party and its allies would field candidates.
Releasing the list of constituencies, DMK president M.K. Stalin reiterated that the MDMK would be given a Rajya Sabha berth as and when biennial elections are notified.
The DMK would field candidates in 20 constituencies including the three seats in Chennai – South, North and Central, Sriperumbudur, Kancheepuram (SC), Kallakurichi, Arakonam, Cuddalore, Tiruvannamalai and Vellore in northern Tamil Nadu. In the western region, the party would enter the fray in Dharmapuri, Salem, Nilgiris (SC) and Pollachi. In south Tamil Nadu, DMK candidates will contest from Dindigul, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi (SC) and Tirunelveli. In the Delta region, the party will contest from Mayiladuthurai and Thanjavur.
The Congress has been allotted Tiruvallur, Krishnagiri, Arani, Karur, Tiruchirapalli, Sivaganga, Theni, Virudhunagar, Kanyakumari and Puducherry.
The MDMK has been allotted Erode, CPI (M) will contest from Coimbatore and Madurai, CPI will fight from Tiruppur and Nagapattinam (SC), IUML from Ramanathapuram, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal from Villupuram (SC) and Chidambaram (SC), the Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi from Namakkal, and the IJK will contest from Perambalur
