Collector J.Niwas on Friday directed officials to speed up establishment of small and medium industries in identified areas of Ponduru, Patapatnam, Sithampet and other mandals. He said that their establishment would spur economic activity and help many people to get jobs locally.
Along with general manager of the District Industries Centre B.Gopala Krishna, he reviewed the progress of industries in the district. He said 110 acres of land was identified in VR Gudem of Ponduru mandal and 70 acres in Meliyaputti of Patapatnam Assembly constituency. He also expressed happiness over completion of land acquisition in places like Tekkali, Bhairipuram of Kanchili mandal and Ramakrishnapuram of Palasa mandal.
Mr.Niwas told the officials concerned to clear permissions immediately under single window policy so that entrepreneurs would take further steps for establishment of units. He directed the officials of the Pollution Control Board to take necessary steps for the control of air pollution although the industries were the need of the hour.
Mr.Gopala Krishna said that the government was providing many incentives and concessions for people who came forward to establish their industries in identified areas. Many memoranda of understanding signed with the government had been realised with the constant efforts of the department.
He urged bankers to extend their support to entrepreneurs. Mr.Gopala Krishna promised to conduct more training programmes for them to make the units financially viable.
A.P. Pollution Control Board executive engineer E.E.Sudarshan, Social Welfare Department deputy director K.V. Aditya Lakshmi and other officials participated in the review meeting.
