Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has said that actor Sumalatha, who is contesting against his son K. Nikhil in Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, was an Independent candidate only on paper as she has the support of the Congress, the BJP and the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha.
“All have joined hands to oppose the JD(S). But reality on the ground is different. I will react to all these things after May 23 [the results day],” he said on Friday at Koppa.
‘Story of conflict’
Later, he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of seeking votes by creating a “story of conflict between India and Pakistan” ahead of the elections.
Mr. Kumaraswamy said he knew that the Prime Minister would create a conflict ahead of the elections two years ago itself.
“A retired military officer had told me two years ago that Mr. Modi would create a story of a conflict between the two countries ahead of the polls and seek votes by misleading the public,” he said.
The Chief Minister addressed rallies at Koppa, Mudigere, and Tarikere and sought people’s support for Pramod Madhwaraj, who is contesting on JD(S) ticket in Udupi–Chikkamagaluru constituency. Leaders of both Congress and the JD(S) attended the meetings.
