TPCC working president Ponnam Prabhakar has blamed the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for making the local bodies powerless by concentrating all the powers with ‘one family’ and appealed to the people to teach a lesson to them in the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections. First phase of the three-phase election is scheduled to be held on Monday.
In a statement here, he said powers of local bodies have been diluted and elected representatives are being treated with disrespect, and Congress was the only party that strengthened the local bodies.
“We will release money directly to the local bodies once we come to power,” he said and appealed people to vote for Congress candidates.
He also blamed the TRS government for the reduced reservations for Backward Castes in the local bodies. The State is under a ‘dictatorial’ rule and it was time people teach the rulers a lesson.
He alleged that the callousness and arrogance of the government has cost the lives of 26 students who committed suicide due to faulty results in Intermediate. A government that can’t conduct examinations properly has no right to rule, he said. He also alleged that right on Ambedkar Jayanthi, his statue was vandalised near Pragati Bhavan and asked should we vote for such a government.
