Lok Sabha elections 2019: Deve Gowda’s grandson Prajwal Revanna to contest from Hassan

Former Prime Minister and national president of JD(S) H.D. Deve Gowda officially declared Prajwal Revanna as the party’s candidate for Hassan Lok Sabha seat.

Mr. Gowda made this announcement in a party workers’ meeting held at Mudalahippe village in Holenarsipur taluk after participating in a special pooja at Channakeshava Temple of the village.

I want you to bless him (to win) this election, an emotional Mr. Gowda said pointing at Mr. Prajwal. Mr. Revanna and Mr. Prajwal were also seen wiping their tears.

Mr. Gowda maintained that his grandson had blessings of the gods and he would require people’s support. He maintained that he had a long career and if he contested again he might not be in a position to work actively for next five years as he did all these years.

“I have brought many people into politics and supported them. But, I don’t know why find fault with me for bringing my family members into politics,” Mr. Gowda said.

The name of Mr. Prajwal Revanna, son of State Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna, was doing rounds for the candidature. Though Mr. Gowda himself hinted at fielding his grandson for the polls several times, this is the first time a formal announcement has been made.

It is said that Mr. Revanna chose this day for the public announcement going by the suggestions of his trusted astrologers.

The family members conducted special prayers in the morning, ahead of the public programme. It is said that a copy of party’s B-form was also kept during the prayers in the temple.
