Officials conduct searches at Lalu Prasad Yadav’s ward in Ranchi hospital

Imprisoned Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s ward in a government hospital in Ranchi was thoroughly searched by jail and district police officials on March 17. However, nothing incriminating was found in the search operation.

Convicted in fodder scam cases for over a year, Lalu Prasad Yadav is currently admitted at paying ward of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for medical treatment.

Every Saturday Mr. Prasad is permitted to meet a maximum of three people in the hospital ward. He has been meeting his family members, party leaders and leaders from other political parties, apparently to chalk out strategies for the upcoming Lok Sabha poll.

Mr. Prasad, of late, was authorised by RJD leaders to finalize the list of party candidates for the LS poll.

Leaders of Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) too have been meeting Lalu Prasad in the hospital ward for seat-sharing adjustments. However, they have been telling media persons that they had come to meet Mr. Prasad to know about his well-being.

Recently, Mr. Prasad had approached the Supreme Court to get bail in the fodder scam cases in which he has been convicted by courts in Ranchi.

On March 16 evening, the Ranchi jail and district officials conducted a joint search operation in the paying ward where Mr. Prasad has been admitted for about half an hour. But, said jail authorities, nothing incriminating were recovered from the ward.

According to hospital sources, Lalu Prasad suffers from multiple diseases and has not been keeping well currently.
