P. Suneel Kumar, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, underlined the need for political parties to adhere to the rules and regulations of the Election Commission and to also follow the model code of conduct.
Presiding over a meeting of representatives of various political parties in Koppal Parliamentary constituency here on Saturday, Mr. Suneel Kumar gave a list of dos and don’ts.
He also explained the procedures to be followed, documents to be attached while filing the nomination papers, opening a separate bank account for all transactions of the candidates during elections and e-payment if the amount exceeds ₹10,000.
Availing permissions for holding political rallies, meetings and the like was mandatory, and political parties could apply through Suvidha app and also to the single window system with all relevant documents. In this election names of around 17.16 lakh people – 8.53 lakh men and 8.62 lakh women – have been enrolled in the voters list of the Koppal Lok Sabha constituency, comprising five taluks of the district, two and one taluks respectively from neighbouring Raichur and Ballari districts.
Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities would also be held to ensure that the polling percentage would increase, he said.
He also said that all arrangements have been made for conduct of elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
