In a tragic incident, seven people were run over by a private bus in Narora area of Bulandshahr on late Thursday night.
The victims, which included four women and three children, were returning from Vaishno Devi by a private bus, police said. According to local sources, the passengers decided to stay overnight to take a bath in the nearby Ganga river early morning.
Manish Mishra, Superintendent of Police (rural), said the victims were sleeping in the parking area when a private bus with number UP 81-CT 0799, which was also carrying pilgrims, ran over them at around 2.30 a.m. “We have lodged an FIR against the driver who ran away from the scene,” he told The Hindu. Three victims belonged to Hathras, two were from Aligarh and the remaining were from Firozabad.
The UP government has announced a compensation of ₹2 lakh each for the victims.
