The indefinite strike by the sacked empanelled conductors of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in front of the Secretariat was called off on Friday after talks with Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran.
A total of 4,071 empanelled conductors were removed from service following a High Court directive to give posting to those advised by the Kerala Public Service Commission.
The agitators called off the 47-day strike after Mr. Saseendran informed them that those with five years and above experience having a valid conductor’s licence would be posted on the leave vacancy in the KSRTC on daily wages.
The KSRTC will prepare a conductors bank at the three zonal level and the District Transport Offices will post the needed conductors on a day-to-day basis when the conductors recruited through the Public Service Commission go on leave and when the utility wants to operate additional services.
The wages will be disbursed after the duty hours at the depot itself.
