Spent ₹93 lakh during LS polls, PMK tells Election Commission

The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has claimed that it incurred an expenditure of ₹93.62 lakh on the Lok Sabha elections in May 2019, in which it contested in seven constituencies in alliance with AIADMK and BJP.

A major portion of this expenditure was paid to the party’s Dharmapuri candidate Anbumani Ramadoss and Makkal TV, administered by those close to PMK founder S. Ramadoss.

According to the election expenditure statement filed by the party, it paid a total of about ₹51.33 lakh on media advertisement.

Of this, ₹50 lakh was paid to Makkal Tholaithodarpu Kuzhumum Ltd for telecasting of election campaign and ₹13,600 was paid to Sathiyam Television Advertisement. In addition, ₹1.20 lakh was paid for printing materials.

Dr. Anbumani was given about ₹27.27 lakh. As per the expenditure statement, he was paid ₹25 lakh each on April 2 and April 15, out of which he returned about ₹22.72 lakh to the party on June 24.

Vadivel Ravanan, who contested in Villupuram, was paid ₹15 lakh for election expenditure.

An expenditure of ₹1,688 is disclosed towards bank charges. The party said it received about ₹3.55 crore from all sources from the announcement of election to the date of completion of the process.
