Senior Congress leader and former minister, Mohammed Ali Shabbir has accused the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) of colluding with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in passing the Triple Talaq Bill in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
In a statement here, he said that by abstaining from voting, the TRS has exposed itself and now it has been proved beyond doubt that it is an ally of the BJP and unofficial partner in the NDA government.
TRS should have voted against the Bill. “The Congress party has been saying since beginning that TRS was a B-Team of the BJP and today our stand has been vindicated. By wearing a fake mask of secularism Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has clearly back-stabbed the Muslim community,” he alleged. Mr. Shabbir Ali asked president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi to clarify his party stand on the TRS after this episode. The MIM has been extending blind support to the TRS since 2014 and it should tell whether it would continue friendship with TRS or question its stand.
He said all clerics and Muslim organisations supporting TRS should now introspect and review their stand and take corrective measures.
The Congress leader said that the TRS was never a secular party and it had a hidden agenda against Muslims. The Congress leader pointed out that TRS has always supported Prime Minister Narender Modi and BJP government at the Centre since 2014. KCR was the first to support demonetisation, GST Bill, and also recently RTI Amendment Act, he said.
