Will he, Won’t he?

Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia announced on February 24 that he’d contest the same seat in the upcoming election, scotching speculation that his wife, Priyadarshini Raje, would be contesting.

However, speaking at a programme of anganwadi workers in Shivpuri, Scindia said that if the Congress won, 33 per cent reservation for women would be ensured in the legislatures.

I’ll be standing before you as a Saansad Pati then, he said, referring to the system in which husbands of elected women representatives do their work instead. Please don’t let me do that because my wife is more capable than me in many ways, he was quick to add.
