Words that propped up Modi now scare him: Stalin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who came to power by using the words Hindu and Ram, is now afraid of these two words after The Hindu exposed the government’s lies on the Rafale deal through a series of stories by N. Ram, DMK president M.K. Stalin said.

“I congratulate The Hindu and Mr. Ram for exposing the lies. If the Modi-led Central government dares to threaten Mr. Ram and the newspaper, the opposition parties will join hands to protect them,” Mr. Stalin said while addressing an election rally organised here on Wednesday. He was sharing the dais with Congress president Rahul Gandhi and other electoral allies.

He said Mr. Modi, who came to power with the promise of providing corruption-free governance, was mired in corruption charges in the Rafale deal, as exposed by The Hindu.

He mocked Mr. Modi for failing to bring back the ₹90 lakh crore black money allegedly stashed in foreign banks.

“He is just laying foundation stones for new projects towards the end of his tenure. A good government should lay the foundation stone for new projects within 2 years of coming to power and inaugurate these projects within the next two years. After ruling the country for five years, he (Mr. Modi) has laid foundation stones for 155 new projects in the past 30 days,” he said.

Mr. Stalin once again proposed Mr. Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Minister.

He said the United Progressive Alliance that won all 40 Lok Sabha segments in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in 2004 would do likewise in 2019 too and snatch power from Mr. Modi.
