Bharatiya Janata Party State president B.S. Yeddyurappa on Friday predicted that stalwarts from the governing coalition, including the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha M. Mallikarjun Kharge would be defeated in the Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing party office-bearers and leaders in Bengaluru, Mr. Yeddyurappa maintained that senior Congress leaders M. Veerappa Moily and V. Muniyappa too were bound to lose against BJP candidates.
‘No trips till results’
With reports of leaders and functionaries of various political parties taking off on tours after the elections, Mr. Yeddyurappa asked BJP leaders to desist from going on such trips. “I want to ask you not to go on such trips and honeymoons till the bypolls to Assembly constituencies are over and the Lok Sabha election results are announced on May 23,” he said.
He asked the party workers to focus on the Assembly bypolls. “Whoever thinks that he can make an impact in the two seats going to the bypolls should make it a point to camp there,” he said.
