Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav, who has become the linchpin of the Indian ODI bowling department in less than two years, has turned his attention to batting.
“It’s very important; be it ODI or Test cricket. I focus more on batting, every session I bat for around 20 minutes. Batting is important because sometimes we get to bat in the last over and you need to win. I’m working with Sanjay (Bangar) sir on it,” said Kuldeep, who has so far scored 78 runs in 14 ODI innings.
Kuldeep expressed happiness at India taking a 1-0 lead in Hyderabad. “We are very happy with the result and to be very honest, me, Yuzvendra Chahal and Jaddu bhai (Ravindra Jadeja) are playing really well. And so nothing much to worry about and we are focusing game by game.”
Clearly the 24-year-old is looking forward to improving his success rate against Australia. So far he has taken 11 wickets at 34.91.
“Sometimes the batsmen play well. In Australia, Shaun Marsh played me really well and they (team management) gave me a break for a couple of games. Marsh plays on his front foot. I watched a lot and planned accordingly. Let’s see, how I bowl to him, that is important.”
