India vs SA: Rohit Sharma equals MS Dhoni’s record of playing most T20Is for India

India vice-captain Rohit Sharma equalled MS Dhoni’s record of playing most number of T20 International matches for India when he came out to open the batting for India in the 3rd T20I against South Africa at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Rohit and MS Dhoni have played 98 T20I matches for India and are followed by Suresh Raina who has featured in 78 T20Is. India skipper Virat Kohli is 4th in the list with 72 matches thus far.

Former India skipper MS Dhoni’s last T20I was earlier this year against Australia. The wicketkeeper-batsman made himself unavailable for the West Indies tour and South Africa after taking a break of over 2 months.

India’s home season began with a 3-match T20I series against South Africa. The hosts are leading the series 1-0 after the first match being washed out in Dharamsala.

India opener Rohit Sharma has not had a good show with the bat in India’s home season that started with the T20I series against South Africa.

Sharma managed just 12 runs in the 2nd match while departed for 9 in the final T20I of the series.
