India vs South Africa: Traditional welcome for Team India in Dharamshala

Team India on Friday arrived in Dharamshala ahead of the first T20I of the 3-match series against South Africa that is set to kick off on September 15 (Sunday). The Indian cricketers were given a traditional welcome as they reached the team hotel.

BCCI shared the pictures of the team’s welcome on its official Twitter handle where the players were seen wearing traditional ‘Himachali Topi’.

The Indian team assembled in Delhi before leaving for Dharamshala where DDCA unveiled a new pavilion stand at the Feroz Shah Kotla after Virat Kohli, who recently became the most successful India captain in Test cricket, surpassing MS Dhoni.

The Proteas have already arrived in the country on September 11 with Quinton de Kock named skipper for the T20I series in place of Faf du Plessis. The tourists would look to start after a disappointing World Cup 2019.

The 3-match T20I series between the two teams will be followed by a 3-match Test series that begins in Visakhapatnam from October 2 as the Proteas open their campaign in the ICC World Test Championship.

The Indians have rested the senior pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar while all-rounder Hardik Pandya is back after being rested for the West Indies series. The team management as well as the senior selection committee has been very cautious in managing the workload of the players.
