Andre Russell’s innings was more heroic because he battled pain to batter the Delhi Capitals bowling attack.
He said he felt the pain and decided to play his shots instead of “hanging there.”
“It was tough for me after getting hit on the shoulder. Karthik kept talking to me throughout the innings.
“I told DK that I was getting the pain, so there was no point of hanging there, I played my shots. It worked for me in the end and I think we can defend this total.
“At one point we were thinking of 150 but the partnership between me and helped us post 185,” he said.
In the company of skipper Dinesh Karthik, Russell added 95 for the sixth wicket to resurrect the KKR innings. Russell was hit on the arm but that did not stop him from playing a fiery innings studded with 4 fours and 6 sixes.
Andre Russell’s strike rate of 185.33 after his first 1000 runs is much higher than the likes of Chris Gayle, Virender Sehwag, Glenn Maxwell, Rishabh Pant.
