KL Rahul went past 1000 runs for Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League in only his 23rd innings during the match against Rajasthan Royals in Mohali on Tuesday. KXIP had bought KL Rahul for Rs 11 crore during the player auction in 2018 and he has proven to be a great buy.
In the 2018 IPL, KL Rahul scored 659 runs from 14 matches including 6 fifties. In the 2019 Indian Premier League, he has scored 387 runs from 9 matches including his first IPL hundred and 4 fifties.
While Rahul returned to the Indian team thanks to his sensational run for KXIP last year, he has been included in India’s 15-man World Cup squad.
KL Rahul, who hit a 47-ball 52 against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday, has so far scored 1046 runs for Kings XI Punjab.

In 2016, KL Rahul had scored 397 runs from 14 matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore but he did not play in the next IPL. After he was released by RCB, KXIP snapped up at a headline grabbing price.
KL Rahul was recently involved in a controversial episode of Koffee with Karan along with Hardik Pandya. Both men were suspended for their statements on the TV show but once their suspension was lifted, KL Rahul played for India A and was then selected for the T20I and ODI series against Australia at home.
KL Rahul hit 50 and 47 in the two T20Is against Australia and it was clear he would make the cut for the World Cup.
Overall in 62 IPL matches, KL Rahul has scored 1771 runs and 14 fifties, 10 of which have come for KXIP.
On April 10, KL Rahul hit his maiden IPL hundred against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
Rahul has scored hundreds for India in all 3 formats. He has 5 hundreds in Tests, 1 in ODIs and 2 in T20 Internationals. Consistency has often been a problem for KL Rahul in the international arena but his sensational run in the IPL for the second year running should give him plenty of confidence heading into the World Cup.
