Imran Tahir became only the 4th 40-year-old to take a 4-wicket haul in IPL history and he was named man-of-the-match after helping Chennai Super Kings to their 7th win in 8 matches in the 2019 Indian Premier League. Tahir picked career-best figures of 4 for 27 as Kolkata Knight Riders lost by 5 wickets at the Eden Gardens on Sunday.
Imran Tahir was lined up against some of KKR’s most dangerous batsmen and he delivered. He removed Nitish Rana, Robin Uthappa, Chris Lynn and Andre Russell as CSK restricted Kolkata to 161 for 8 off 20 overs despite Lynn’s 82.
Tahir was a crucial cog in the wheel for Chennai Super Kings in 2018 when they won the IPL for the 3rd time. This year, Tahir has taken 13 wickets from 8 matches and he said he was happy to contribute to the team’s cause and more than happy to learn from MS Dhoni, the legendary CSK captain.

“Playing with MSD, getting his advice and learning a lot from him and I am really, really happy to be part of CSK,” Tahir said at the post-match prensentation ceremony.
Imran Tahir said his plan was simple against some of the most dangerous T20 batsmen. KKR boast of Chris Lynn and Andre Russell in their line-up and Tahir was able to outfox them both. Russell has been in top form this IPL and his wicket in the 15th over meant CSK did not have to chase a much higher target.
“We won and that’s the most pleaasing thing. Am more than pleased as long as I am doing what the team wants. My plan was simple. They have some very good players. I used my variations and I am happy with the way they came off. Hard work is paying off. My wife and kid always support me. I have no worries in my head,” Tahir said
