R Ashwin tried to Mankad Shikhar Dhawan during Delhi Capitals’ run-chase against Kings XI Punjab at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Saturday. In a funny turn of events, Dhawan responded by dancing at the non-striker’s end.
In the 13th over, R Ashwin tried to Mankad Dhawan who was leading the charge for Delhi Capitals in their chase of 164.
But luckily for Dhawan, he had stepped back inside the crease in time.
When Ashwin delivered the following ball, Dhawan teased the Kings XI Punjab captain by trying to get out of the crease. In fact, he came up with a mini dance at the non-striker’s end.
Ashwin took the catch to dismiss Shikhar Dhawan on 56 in the following over after Hardus Viljoen hurried the DC opener with a bouncer. Despite Dhawan’s untimely departure, captain Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 58 and helped Delhi Capitals get past the finish line and retain the third spot on the IPL 2019 points table.

Earlier in the 2019 Indian Premier League, R Ashwin had stirred up a controversy when he Mankaded Jos Buttler, the Rajasthan Royals opener in Jaipur.
Shane Warne, Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, and Dale Steyn blasted Ashwin over his action while James Anderson chose a more distasteful way to express his disagreement.
In an interview with India Today, Ashwin said, “You can debate about it. It’s up to people’s perception what they believe it is,” Ashwin told AajTak. “But to me, like I said, it’s all about conscience. Before some 10 years, there was a rule wherein you warn somebody and then do it.”
“See, there have been even debates about whether I waited for him to leave the crease. But what people don’t understand is I hadn’t even reached the crease when he started walking away. Once I complete my action, I can’t go down and hit the stumps.
“I will have to wait and then only flip the stumps. It makes no sense to me. There will be no end to this. People will keep giving their opinions,” he said.
Same as last time, Twitter was flushed with reactions over Ashwin’s Mankading gesture against Dhawan.
Did Ashwin really try to runout the non striker again? ??
