The much-awaited high-voltage 3-match ODI series between India and Australia will kick off on Tuesday (Jan 14) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The high-voltage rivalries that fans enjoy will be back as Rohit Sharma’s elegance will be pitted against enforcer David Warner while the Virat Kohli vs Steve Smith duel will resume in earnest.
India will also have to make a difficult choice at the top between KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan as second opener behind Rohit Sharma. However, India skipper Virat Kohli said that to accommodate both the batsmen in the playing XI, he would happily demote himself at No. 4.
In the bowling unit, Jasprit Bumrah will be playing his first ODI after recovering from the back injury. India’s lethal pace attack also consists of Mohammed Shami and Navdeep Saini.
Australia, on the other hand, will be playing their first ODI after having lost to England in the 2019 World Cup semi-final. The last time India faced Australia in ODIs, David Warner and Steve Smith were serving their one-year ball-tampering ban, however, the two lethal batsmen are back in the side.
Marnus Labuschagne, who had an extra-ordinary Test season this summer, is all set to make his ODI debut.
