Royal Challengers Bangalore had a special guest amidst their training session on Tuesday as Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri paid the team a surprise visit.
Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli took up the responsibility to introduce Chhetri to the few players who might not know what a legend the footballer is in India.
“Those of you who don’t know, that’s Sunil Chhetri the captain of our national football team. He’s just joining on the field today. Any of you want to chat to him about your mindset or anything… main man. Let’s make him feel comfortable and welcome,” Virat Kohli said as his RCB players made a huddle around their skipper with Sunil Chhetri standing in the middle.
Sunil Chhetri, who also leads the local club Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League and the I-League, wished luck to the RCB players for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2019.
Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore will be bidding for their maiden IPL title this year with some new faces in the setup.
Kohli has been a part of RCB ever since the franchise’s inception in 2008. In 2013, Kohli took over as full-time captain of the side ahead of that year’s IPL. Notably, he had started leading the side as early as the fourth edition of the league in 2011.
Despite possessing some of the big names from world cricket, the IPL title has been eluding RCB. Under Kohli, RCB had reached the final of the 2016 edition only to lose to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The India captain will be keen on ending RCB’s title drought in the upcoming season of IPL, starting March 23. RCB open their campaign against defending champions Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on the opening day of the cash-rich league.
