Hardik Pandya, MS Dhoni and KL Rahul were spotted roaming around in the streets of Southampton days ahead of India’s ICC Cricket World Cup opener against South Africa, scheduled for June 5 at Ageas Bowl in the English port city.
Hardik Pandya was wearing a black hoodie and KL Rahul a grey hoodie as both the young cricketers joined MS Dhoni for a walk on a busy Southampton street. Dhoni was sporting a leather jacket as the trio looked dapper in their outfits.
Hardik and Rahul uploaded a photo each on their Instagram profiles. Hardik captioned his photo: “The Gang”.
India are the only team who haven’t begun their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 campaign yet. While the other 9 teams in the UK have at least played one match each, Virat Kohli’s men will only open their campaigns on Wednesday.
India have been hitting the training grounds ever since they arrived in the United Kingdom last month. On Monday, India’s final training session ahead of their opener vs South Africa was cut-short due to a rain interruption. The Asian giants had reportedly scheduled a 3-hour session but the players were forced indoors after they trained for 2 hours.
India are being considered joint-favourites alongside hosts Englnad at the World Cup. There were concerns surrounding the No. 4 spot in India’s batting order but KL Rahul seems to have sealed the spot after his hundred in their warm-up match against Bangladesh last week.
Rahul smashed a 99-ball 108 after walking in at No. 4 vs Bangladesh in Cardiff.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni seems to be in fine batting form in the lead up to the World Cup. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman hit 113 from just 78 balls as he took the Bangladesh bowlers to the clean-up in their warm-up match.
