With the arrest of two criminals, the Delhi Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a gang of interstate arms suppliers. Police said they used to smuggle the guns from Morena area in Madhya Pradesh and sell them to criminals in Delhi.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Ajay alias Hariya (23), an owner of popular food joint at Dwarka Mor and Arvind Rathor (23), a driver in south Delhi-based travel agency. Police arrested them from Sector 3 areas of Dwarka and recovered three sophisticated pistols and some cartridges from their possession. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that the accused used to supply firearms to notorious gangsters of neighbouring states and nearby districts.
“We had received information about the arms deal in the Dwarka area. A dedicated team was made to nab the gang. Our Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) got a tip-off about arms suppliers coming to sector 3 near DPS school for the arms deal after which a trap was set and the suppliers were arrested,” Alphonse said.
According to the police, Ajay owned a popular food stall, which remains open quite late at night. It was here he came in contact with some local criminals who frequently visited the food joint late at night. Ajay joined with close-aide Rathor who hails from Morena in Madhya Pradesh.
