With an eye on young voters, actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar and Patidar leader Hardik Patel addressed a ‘Youth Meet’ at Andheri in Mumbai.
Urmila Matondkar was trolled on social media after she joined the Congress recently. However, she put on a brave face.
“I won’t use this stage to cry about how I was trolled. I am confident. They think as I am from Bollywood, I don’t have brains. But I am proud to be part of Bollywood,” she asserted.
She also criticised the Modi government and said that the youth needs to unite for its own good. Urmila Matondkar is a Congress candidate from Mumbai North parliamentary constituency.
Patidar leader Hardik Patel was present at the Youth Meet as well. The meet was convened by Congress candidate from Mumbai North-West Sanjay Nirupam. Nirupam was also present at the venue. The constituency of Mumbai North-West has sizeable population of Gujarati community.
Hardik Patel criticised the government for failing the youth.
“The youth was crazy for Modi way back in 2014 but they were fooled and none of the promises were kept” he said.
The Congress leadership is projecting both Urmila Matondkar and Hardik Patel as youth leaders. Congress feels that both Urmila and Hardik can connect with the youth and create a positive impact.
“I thought it is very important to connect with the youth hence even before filing the nomination I arranged this Yuva Meet,” said Sanjay Nirupam, who is contesting from Mumbai North West on Congress ticket.
After addressing the youth meet Sanjay Nirupam, released a separate youth election manifesto for his constituency.
Sanjay Nirupam said, “Youth has been fooled by the Modi government. They want answers. I have released a separate manifesto to assure youth of this constituency that I will help them at every juncture and will stand with them.”
