Kargil-Zanskar road may open by April end

Engineer Punchok Tashi, executive councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh (LAHDC) and Zanskar Affair visited Rongo to inspect the snow clearance work on Kargil-Zanskar road which stands cleared upto 100 km near Chortan at Rongo.

Four dozers and a JCB machine are on the job from Zanskar side.

The hard work rendered by the staff of Mechanical Division Kargil, particularly dozer and JCB operator deployed for the job, is highly appreciated as they have encountered three huge 20-to-40-feet-high avalanches in Parkachik Rong which they cleared within short time.

This year, due to heavy snowfall it was huge task for Mechanical Division Kargil to clear the snow from the 234-km-long road. Due to the untiring efforts of the staff of the division, authorities are trying to complete the task in shortest possible time.

Punchok Tashi lauded the effort of Mechanical Division Kargil and assured they will be suitably rewarded if they achieve target within the stipulated time as the engineers deployed for the job have assured that they will reach Rangdum in next five days and by April end, the road may be opened for vehicular traffic.

All efforts made to reopen this road link before elections.
