One engine corrupt, another mired in crime: Tejashwi Yadav on BJP’s double-engine govt remark

Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday took potshots at double-engine government boasted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during Maharashtra election campaign.

Tejashwi Yadav attacked the BJP saying that one engine of the BJP’s “double-engine government” is mired in knee-deep corruption, while the other wheel chugs on crime.

Tejashwi Yadav was speaking at a public rally organized by the RJD in Ranchi ahead of Jharkhand assembly elections.

His statement came after Home Minister Amit Shah, in a rally in Kohlapur, had said, “You’ve [citizens] formed a double-decker government. On top, there is Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and beside him is Maharashtra Chief Minister [Devendra] Fadnavis ji.”

“Both these governments have worked for the progress of Maharashtra and the region of Kolhapur,” Amit Shah said.

Earlier on October 10, the BJP, in a tweet, quoted Amit Shah as saying, “The double-Decker government of Modi Ji and Devendra Ji has shown a new path of development to Maharashtra.”

Hitting out at the BJP and asking opposition parties to contest elections under the alliance, Tejashwi Yadav said that the condition of the BJP in the state is upsetting and that the people will oust the party from power in the upcoming assembly elections.

Besides this, Tejashwi Yadav lashed out at self-styled godman Ram Rahim, rape-accused Chinmayanand and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

While addressing the rally, Tejashwi Yadav announced the mobilisation of the workers for the upcoming assembly elections. He also said that the elections will be fought on the issues of poverty, corruption, unemployment and inflation.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) working president Hemant Soren was also invited to the RJD’s public rally, but was unable to attend being busy with the party’s second program. RJD state president and former Union Minister Jayaprakash Yadav was also present at the event.
