Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is looking for a house in Lucknow to personally lead the Congress party in the 2022 assembly polls.
In order to strengthen her party ahead of the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is looking for a house in Lucknow to personally lead her party from the front.
A senior Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) leader, on conditions of anonymity, said, “Priyanka is hopeful that in the upcoming state elections, Congress will emerge as the single largest party and will form a government on its own.”
He also said, “She [Priyanka] wants to stay for the maximum time in Lucknow and has also started looking for a house. Her aim is to strengthen the party and participate actively in all the movements against the state government.”
“Priyanka might stay at the residence of former MP and veteran Congress leader Sheila Kaul located at the Gokhale Marg in Lucknow. A property on rent is being also searched in Gomti Nagar area,” the UPCC leader claimed.
He further said, “Final decision is likely to be taken by the end of this year, keeping in mind the security point of view since Priyanka is a special protection group (SPG) protectee.”
Priyanka Gandhi lead a ‘padyatra’ from Shaheed Smarak to the GPO intersection in Lucknow which was attended by prominent leaders and hundreds of party workers on 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2.
Priyanka also visited Sheila Kaul’s residence during her visit to Lucknow. She is also in touch with senior state leaders to finalise her accommodation.
Sheila Kaul is the maternal aunt of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
