In a shocking video gone viral on social media, employees of the Ladowal toll plaza near Ludhiana tied a child beggar to a tree because he was running after vehicles.
The viral video shows unidentified men untying the child who appears to be around five-year-old.
According to eyewitnesses, a couple of vehicle owners noticed the child tied to tree when they rescued him and informed the toll authorities.
One of the toll plaza employees identified as Rahul said that the child would have been run over by the moving vehicles as he was chasing them for money, which is why they tied him to a tree instead of sending him away.
They tied the boy to a tree so tightly that rope marks were clearly visible on his hands.
Sources said the accused employees also snatched whatever money the child had collected from the vehicle owners.
DCP (Investigations) Ludhiana, Gagan Ajit Singh said, “Action will be taken against the accused toll employees if the police receives a formal complaint.”
“We are examining the video which is being shared on social media. So far no complainant has come forward. Action will be taken against the accused after the receipt of a formal complaint,” Gagan Ajit Singh said.
The toll plaza authorities refused to go on record to speak on the incident. Meanwhile, the accused are roaming free as the police still waits for a complaint.
